About Aidan
Last semester, I had the pleasure of taking Guitar Class for Beginners with Professor Elwell. As a Music Industry major, I took this course to fulfill an elective requirement. I have always wanted to learn how to play the guitar and this was the perfect introduction. From the start, Professor Elwell demonstrated a deep understanding of the guitar in addition to experience as a teacher. He presented the material in such a way that made me eager to learn more. He explained all topics thoroughly and made sure to meet the individual needs of every student in the class. If you were struggling or simply wanted one-on-one time to advance your skills, Professor Elwell was always available and ready to assist. I was very fortunate to learn from Professor Elwell and can attest to his excellent teaching skills. He is passionate and dedicated to his craft as both a musician and a teacher. I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from him and I am excited to continue to use the skills I have learned!

Aidan Elwell was a fantastic guitar teacher. He made course material palatable and accessible for all students, offered help after class, and accommodated to student’s needs and level. Class would always start with tuning and then the lesson would begin. Commentary and questions were always welcomed, but he never let it derail the lesson. He made the most efficient use of his time instructing, and emphasized the importance of practicing on our own time so that we can pass our exams and move forward in class. After class was over, he would stay for 20 or so minutes after to help students with skills they were struggling with.

In my experience Aidan has been a great communicator during class and has a very practical approach to teaching. He heavily encourages class interactivity and ensures everyone takes part. After class Aidan has consistently offered to stay behind to help in the case that someone is behind or has any questions. I also appreciate how when teaching sheet music, he takes the approach of having the class learn where each note on a piece of music is on the guitar, rather than simply having us play a melody solely through muscle memory. This means students have the ability to read sheet music, instead of just knowing where to place their fingers on the guitar. I think Aidan has been a great and knowledgeable teacher for AMC 160, and I have always remained grateful of his encouraging and patient approach to teaching.

About the childbloom program
Collectively, as a family, we have taken piano, guitar, saxophone and cello lessons. Childbloom is the best music experience our family has ever had.

My son was involved with guitar about six months prior to finding the Childbloom Program. He had become disinterested and bored, I suggested we try Childbloom on a trial basis hoping to recapture the desire he once had. The results have been great. He is thoroughly enjoying it all, and last week brought his guitar to show & tell. His sister, as well is enjoying her start with the guitar.

This will surely prove to be one of the most valuable and memorable experiences in the lives of my two children. I hope they continue to play the guitar but even if they don’t they have learned many skills which will help them with other endeavors.
